The Pure Barre Lifestyle+Giveaway

PBHow appropriate is it that as I sit down to share with you my excitement for Pure Barre, my whole body is still shaking from class today!  That is one of the many things I love about Pure Barre, when you work hard you feel it. As I always say…if it hurts, it works!

This journey really started 2 years ago.  Prior to October 26, 2012 I was pretty much an occasional “work-er out-er”, which is to say I would work out on occasion or for an occasion.  You know the deal, you have an event to go to and you want to wear this dress and it’s just a little too “fitted”…as in, I can’t breathe or I’ll pop the zipper! Or I would go on these binges where I would work out for a few weeks or months and then fall off the fitness wagon again.  I never really found anything that I would commit to long term and that I enjoyed.  But as soon as I saw that a Pure Barre was opening less than a mile from my house, I was ecstatic!  Not because I had taken a ton of Pure Barre classes in another city, or had a friend that raved about their experience, but because I just had a feeling that this would be a game changer. Boy was I right about that feeling!

Embracing the Life You Have

Today I want to share with you an experience I loved!  My Diddy mama and i (yes, I know I spelled it that way, but that’s what I call him) would say you don’t love things, you love people…but I did love this weekend, this entire experience and I loved sharing with it with my mom for her birthday surprise!  After spending two full hours with Oprah on Friday night, I wondered if day 2 could possibly live up to the magnetism she brought to the stage the night before.  I quickly learned the answer to that question was, absolutely yes! The recurring theme from that day was, the life you want begins with embracing the life you have and the life you have is a miracle. Continue reading

The King of Evening-Oscar de la Renta

2c555e402c80ccf5717937088b381aedJackie Kennedy, Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tina Fey,  Amal Alamuddin Clooney, Jenna Bush Hager …what do they all have in common?  They all felt feminine and beautiful in their Oscar de la Renta gown.  He had such a special and wonderful way that could make any woman feel fabulous and appreciated.  To say he is a legend, to say he is a fashion icon doesn’t even come close to  accurately describing his impact on American women and the way they look at their wardrobe  As he so eloquently said-“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself”.  So as we look back at the pieces of art he has created over 5 decades of greatness, I would like to say thank you to Oscar de le Renta.  You showed the world how to Get Flossy!

We’re going to see Oprah!

DSC03672Have you ever had a bucket list item you really wanted to check off your list? If so, you will understand how excited I am to share this story with you!  Earlier this year I received an email with information about a pre-sale opportunity to attend Oprah’s the Life You Want Weekend.  Like some of you, I watched The Oprah Winfrey Show, read O Magazine, and occasionally watch her network, OWN.  But this was different. This was a chance to see her in person, to hear her and her “trailblazers” speak about life, spirituality and how to live the life you want.  Needless to say, I was ecstatic!

Welcome to Get Flossy!

_1780338219Why write a blog? What in the world are you going to write about? Will anyone care? Will anyone read it? Those are just a few of the questions that popped in and out, and in and out of my head when I contemplated beginning this journey with all of you.  Sure, I could find something to share with you, but would it be helpful, informative, funny or enjoyable? Who knew?  I thought about a valuable lesson my mother taught me very early on in life…sometimes you just have to close your eyes and go!  And with that in mind, welcome to Get Flossy!
