Thoughts on how to “live like you were dying”

TGquoteA couple weeks ago, Tim and I went to see Tim McGraw in concert. He is an artist that has been on my “must see” list for quite a few years, so I was really excited to finally check this concert off my list! I just love the energy of a live performance and attending concerts/music events is definitely one of my lesser known hobbies.

Opening for McGraw was the up and coming, Chase Bryant, who was really good! Next on stage was one of my personal favs, Billy Currington. We actually saw Currington open for Kenny Chesney a few years ago (ok, so the secret is out-I am a HUGE country music fan and have been since high school!) Just like before, Billy Currington was amazing! He really makes you feel like he is giving you all he’s got (which I love and respect in any performer) and he appreciates his fans. Not to mention, his songs, talent and overall performance quality are all awesome!

On to Tim McGraw…yes he as fit in person as he is in pictures ;-) I have been a fan of his for a while now, so I know almost all of his songs, but to see him sing them in person is a totally different experience.

As most artists usually do, McGraw waited until the encore (actually the last song of the entire show) to sing one of his #1 hits…Live Like You Were Dying. The words to that song are so powerful and his delivery so outstanding, I was literally moved to tears. Crazy right? Of course I started thinking. How do we actually do that…live like we are dying? These are a few things I think are imperative in this journey:LLYD

imageAs we were walking along the beach a few days ago, I started looking down at the sand and saw the footprints of others that recently walked a similar path. I began thinking…am I leaving the mark on the world that I want to leave? What is my mark? There is no way to walk exactly the same steps or take the same exact path from day to day, so it’s so important that we leave things a little better and that we, as individuals, leave a little better than we were before.

Be Yourself!

imageI’m sure you’ve heard, just be yourself, a million times. But what does it mean and how do you do it? It is so easy to be pressured to do this, encouraged to do that or even guilted in to doing something else, which can make it difficult to remember who we are as an individuals. So often we change who we are, like we change clothes. We base it on who we are with, what we are doing or who we think we should be.  But, who are you at your core? What is most important to you?  We can all get  caught up at times with everything and everyone else, but we can only find real happiness when we are content from thimagee inside out. Continue reading
